What are liner sacks for cartons?

Liner sacks for cartons are the compact form of carton interior lining. They fit exactly into common industrial cartons and thus create a double packaging layer: carton on the outside for stability and stackability, PE film sack on the inside for protection against moisture, dust and contaminants. They are standard for all industrial bag-in-box applications.

In the food sector, in industrial granule packaging and in construction material shipping they are indispensable: flour, baking mixes, plastic granulate, cleaning powders, construction chemicals – all can be safely packed and transported in the bag-in-box system.

Our range of liner sacks covers the typical industrial carton sizes, film thicknesses of 60–120 microns, available food-grade to EU 10/2011.

What are liner sacks suitable for?

  • Food industry: flour, baking mixes, dry goods in carton shipping
  • Industrial granules: plastic granulate, construction chemicals
  • Fertiliser & garden: mineral shipping in bag-in-box
  • Pet food bulk packs: dry food in carton liners
  • Cleaning products: powder cleaners in the bag-in-box concept
  • Construction material: dry construction chemicals, filling compounds

Which liner variant is the right one?

  • Sack size matched to the carton: internal dimension must fit the carton
  • Film thickness 60–80 microns: light powders, cost-efficient
  • Film thickness 90–120 microns: heavy granules, robust shipping
  • Food-grade EU 10/2011: food-grade for foods
  • With side gussets: maximum use of volume
  • Antistatic: for sensitive powders or machine applications
  • Transparent: visual inspection inside the carton
  • Printed: batch tracking or branding

Frequently asked questions about liner sacks for cartons

What is a side gusset sack as a carton liner (bag-in-box)?

A carton liner is a PE side gusset sack inserted to fit precisely into a shipping or industrial carton – the classic bag-in-box principle. The box provides the stability, the liner provides the tightness and product protection against moisture, dust and foreign matter. Standard for food bulk goods, granules and powders.

Which liner size fits my carton?

Choose the width and side gusset according to the carton's internal dimensions: sack width ≈ carton width, side gusset (total) ≈ carton depth, plus 8–12 cm overhang for closing. Rule of thumb for the lay-flat dimension: width = carton width + carton depth. Give us the carton internal dimensions and we will tell you the right liner.

Which wall thickness does a bag-in-box liner need?

For light dry goods 50–80 microns is sufficient; for heavy granules, powders or sharp-edged bulk goods 100–200 microns. For very heavy or repeatedly re-handled containers, thicker too – the box bears the load, the liner above all needs to be puncture-resistant.

Is the liner food-grade?

The food-grade variant is certified for direct food contact to EU 10/2011 and EC 1935/2004 – mandatory for bag-in-box with flour, sugar, baking mixes or spices. Declaration of conformity on request.

How is the liner closed?

After filling, the overhang is twisted and closed with a bag clip, cable tie or weld seam, then the carton flaps are closed. For dust-tight or aroma-tight applications we recommend the weld seam with a film sealer.

Liner or loose film for lining – which is better?

A converted side gusset sack liner lines the carton in one go and has defined dimensions – faster and tighter than cutting loose film. Loose film is only worthwhile for highly varying, rare carton sizes.

Are there VCI or antistatic liners?

Yes, as a custom order: VCI liners with corrosion protection for bare metal parts and antistatic liners for electronic bulk goods. Both on request with a minimum order quantity.

Are there custom sizes and from what quantity?

Custom sizes are the rule for liners – we manufacture to fit your carton exactly in almost any dimension combination. Common standard sizes are available from stock with no minimum order value; custom-made items from a defined order quantity.
