What are drawstring bags for textiles?
Drawstring bags for textiles are the versatile textile packaging solution for all areas where a film bag looks too cheap or unsuitable. They are made from textile materials – non-woven fleece fabric, cotton, polyester or blended fabric – and have an integrated drawstring closure made of cotton or polyester cord. This means they can be opened and closed easily without the need for tape or a zip closure.
Their textile character makes them a powerful brand tool: packaging made of fabric conveys quality, sustainability and premium appeal far beyond what film bags can achieve. The end-customer experience after the order is significantly different – a fabric bag with a printed brand logo is gladly kept and reused. This extends brand presentation far beyond the moment of purchase.
Our drawstring bags for textiles range covers all common standard sizes: 150×200 mm (jewellery, small fashion add-ons), 250×300 mm (tops, accessories), 300×400 mm (jumpers, sets), 400×500 mm (jackets, large fashion pieces). Materials from non-woven (cost-optimised) to organic cotton (premium sustainability). Printing with brand logos is standard; for premium brands, sewn-in or embroidered labels are available.

Your benefits with textile drawstring bags from Elke Plastic
We have been importing packaging solutions directly from the manufacturer since 1976. For textile drawstring bags, fabric quality is decisive for the perceived value: thin or coarse material looks cheap and undermines the premium promise. Our suppliers meet the strict requirements for consistent material quality.
Our packaging specialists advise on the right material and size combination depending on brand positioning: for volume fashion brands, non-woven with a printed logo is optimal. For premium brands we recommend cotton canvas with embroidered brand embossing. For eco-oriented brands, GOTS-certified organic cotton is the right choice.
Shipping is from our German warehouse. Textile standard sizes are usually in stock; custom printing and embroidery are scheduled individually within the delivery window. All customers – B2B and B2C alike – receive volume pricing, with additional quantity discounts on larger orders. Free samples for advance assessment are a matter of course.
Frequently asked questions about textile drawstring bags
What distinguishes textile bags from film bags?
Textile bags are made of fabric (non-woven, cotton, polyester), film bags from plastic. For premium presentation, gift packaging and reuse, textile bags are usually the better choice. For pure shipping protection, film bags are more cost-efficient.
Are textile bags more environmentally friendly?
It depends. GOTS-certified organic cotton is considerably more sustainable than film. Non-woven made from polypropylene is not substantially more sustainable than film. For explicitly sustainable brands, cotton and organic cotton are the right choice.
Which material is the most robust?
Polyester is the most mechanically robust and the easiest to clean. Cotton has a more valuable appeal but is more susceptible to soiling. Non-woven is the cheapest but also the least robust.
Are the bags machine washable?
Non-woven: wipe clean only, do not wash. Polyester: machine washable at 30 °C. Cotton: machine washable at 30–40 °C. For frequently reused bags, polyester and cotton are the better choice.
Can the bags be printed?
Yes, screen printing is standard. On cotton and polyester, embroidered logos and embossed labels are also possible – for premium brands this is an important quality lever.
Which size do I need for jewellery?
150×200 mm is enough for most jewellery applications. For larger jewellery sets or wellness add-ons, 250×300 mm is suitable.
Are the bags suitable for shipping?
As inner packaging in boxed shipments: yes. As standalone shipping packaging they are less suitable, as they do not hold shipping labels well and are mechanically less robust than film.
What does a textile drawstring bag cost?
Non-woven from 50 cents, polyester 1–2 EUR, cotton 2–5 EUR, GOTS organic cotton 3–7 EUR. Prices vary by size and fabric quality. For volume quantities, corresponding tiered conditions apply.
Is the drawstring perceived positively by the end customer?
Yes. Drawstring bags are gladly kept and reused – as a travel bag for shoes, as gift packaging, as a storage bag. This extends brand presentation considerably beyond the moment of purchase.
Which cord shape is standard?
Flat cotton or polyester cord is standard. Round cords are also available. The cord length is dimensioned so the bag can be closed without a knot.
Can the bags be used for food?
Only to a limited extent. Textile bags are not food-grade in the sense of EU 10/2011. For food applications we recommend food-grade certified film or paper bags.
Which order quantity makes sense?
Stock items in standard sizes with a standard design are available from stock. Custom printing and embroidery pay off from larger runs. For fashion brands we recommend starting with standard bags plus brand labels.
