What are small flat bags?
Small flat bags are the format variant for mini applications – from 60×80 mm (smallest standard size) up to about 200×300 mm (standard medium format). They are made of transparent LDPE film, are food-grade in accordance with EU 10/2011 and have no integrated closure. Like all flat bags, they are closed with adhesive tape, a heat sealer or a clip band.
In the hobby and craft sector, in the workshop, in the assortment store and in artisan kitchens, small flat bags are indispensable: individual parts, mini jewellery, coins, mini screws, small sweets, sample portions, mini assortments. They are the inexpensive standard solution for all single-use applications where ziplock bags would be too expensive and standard formats too large.
Our range of small flat bags comprises the most important standard sizes: 60×80, 80×120, 100×150, 120×180, 150×220, 200×300 mm. Film thicknesses from 25 microns (extra thin, cost-optimised) to 70 microns (more robust, light shipping). Food-grade status in accordance with EU 10/2011 is standard. With a Euro hole on request for hanging presentation – especially relevant for craft, jewellery and hobby applications presented in retail on pegboards.

Your advantages with small flat bags from Elke Plastic
We have been importing packaging bags directly from the manufacturer since 1976. For small flat bags, standardisation is important: you need consistent mini formats that match your assortment box, craft box or index card logic. Our suppliers meet the requirements for exact dimensional accuracy even in small formats – a mini bag that does not fit into the assortment box drawer is worthless in everyday hobby use.
Our packaging specialists advise on the film thickness for hobby applications: for pure sorting and storage applications, 25–40 microns are sufficient and save costs. For collector’s items (coins, stamps), more robust 50–70 microns are preferable, as they remain stable even after years. For food-related mini applications (sample portions), the EU 10/2011 approval also applies in mini formats.
Shipping is from our German warehouse. Small standard sizes are generally in stock in packs of 1000. Private customers and hobby artists order standard quantities with no minimum order value. Hobby shops and commercial craft suppliers receive graduated prices. Free samples via our enquiry form.
Frequently asked questions about small flat bags
What is the smallest standard size?
60×80 mm – roughly matchbox format. This allows individual screws, small beads, coins or SMD components to be packed individually. For even smaller applications, special formats are available on request.
How do small and standard flat bags differ?
We define up to 200×300 mm as “small”, above that up to 300×400 mm as “standard”, above that as “large”. This boundary has emerged from practical application: mini formats often have their own requirements (hobby logic, assortment box dimensions) that differ from standard applications.
Which film thickness is ideal for hobby use?
For pure sorting and storage applications, 25–40 microns are sufficient and save costs. For collectibles (coins, stamps, gemstones) that should remain stable in the long term, 50–70 microns are preferable.
Are small flat bags food-grade?
Yes, all standard LDPE flat bags are food-grade in accordance with EU 10/2011. Mini formats too. For sample packs with herbs, sweets or baking sprinkles, they can be used without restriction.
Can small bags be printed with a logo?
Yes, custom printing is available. For mini formats we recommend compact logos or single-colour designs – detailed multi-colour prints look rather small on 60×80 mm bags.
How many mini bags per pack?
Typically 1000–5000 units. For hobby applications, 100-unit and 500-unit packs are available. For commercial hobby shops, carton quantities are the more cost-efficient choice.
What do small flat bags typically cost?
Standard quantities cost in the single-digit cent range per unit, bulk packs with graduated pricing significantly below this. For mini formats the prices per unit are lower than standard formats, with a correspondingly larger volume per carton.
How are mini bags closed?
With adhesive tape, a heat sealer, a hot-air gun or simply by folding over. For collectors, heat sealing with a mini heat sealer is practical. For hobby applications, adhesive tape is often sufficient.
Are small bags with a Euro hole available?
Yes, from 80×120 mm, mini bags with a Euro hole are available. For even smaller formats a Euro hole is difficult (too little space). For craft and hobby sales on a pegboard, Euro hole variants are ideal.
Are sustainable mini bags available?
Yes, PCR-recycled and mono-material variants are also available in small standard sizes. For hobby brands with a sustainability positioning, these are a visible choice.
Can the bags be hung on a pegboard?
Variants with a Euro hole are specially designed for this. For hobby shops and craft retailers, a Euro hole is practical.
