Tubular Film on a Roll – Endless PE Film for High-Frequency Packaging

Tubular film on a roll as an endless standard form – for high-frequency packaging lines, automatic machines and workshops with continuous packaging requirements. In standard roll dimensions and individual lengths.

Further variants in this packaging family: tubular film, transparent tubular film as well as extra strong tubular film – each with its own specialisation in material, format or application.

Related ranges for other application areas: side gusset sacks, flat bags for packaging as well as delivery note pouches for pallets.

Direct from the importer since 1976, shipped from our German warehouse – free samples, data sheets and graduated prices with no minimum order value.

What is tubular film on a roll?

Tubular film on a roll is the classic delivery form for endless PE tubing. Instead of pre-cut lengths, you receive a continuous roll that you unwind and cut to size as needed. This makes it ideal for workshop, industrial and automated packaging applications with continuous demand.

The advantage over piece packaging: no waste from wrong standard sizes, individual lengths as required, machine integration for high-frequency packaging. For workshops with varying profile lengths it is the cost-efficient solution.

Our range of tubular film on a roll covers typical industrial and workshop applications: tubular widths 100–800 mm, film thicknesses 25–200 microns, roll lengths 100–1000 m. LDPE or PA/PE laminate. On a cardboard roll or without an inner core. For machine applications, antistatic variants and ESD-conductive films are available.

What is tubular film on a roll suitable for?

  • Industrial workshops: continuous packaging lines
  • High-frequency machines: automatic packaging systems
  • Joineries & timber construction: packaging of wooden battens of varying lengths
  • Metalworking: steel and aluminum profiles in variable lengths
  • Textile manufacturers: fabric rolls, banner rolls
  • Food industry: Stollen producers, sausage packaging

Which roll variant is the right one?

  • Roll length 100–250 m: small workshops, hobby applications
  • Roll length 250–500 m: standard workshop application
  • Roll length 500–1000 m: industrial high frequency
  • Film thickness 25–50 microns: light applications, cost-efficient
  • Film thickness 60–100 microns: standard industry
  • Film thickness 120–200 microns: extra strong for heavy goods
  • With cardboard inner core: for machine unwinding systems
  • Without an inner core: cost-efficient for manual application

Your advantages with tubular film on a roll from Elke Plastic

We have been importing industrial films directly from the manufacturer since 1976. For tubular film rolls, consistent film quality across the entire roll length is decisive: an uneven roll leads to unplanned machine stoppages in industrial production.

Our packaging specialists advise on machine requirements: antistatic films are important for automatic packaging lines. Standard films are sufficient for manual workshop applications. For high-speed packaging we recommend longer rolls with fewer changeovers.

Shipping is from our German warehouse. Standard roll dimensions are generally available immediately. All customers – B2B and B2C alike – receive graduated prices; larger quantities with additional volume discounts.

Frequently asked questions about tubular film on a roll

What is tubular film on a roll and what is it used for?

Tubular film on a roll is an endless PE tube, open on both sides, on a winding core. It is processed in packaging machines (flow-pack/form-fill-seal systems) or manually with a film sealer: cut to length, fill, seal on both sides. Ideal for high-frequency packaging lines and operations with changing product lengths.

Which widths and film thicknesses are available?

Standard tubular widths range from approx. 35 to 1200 mm and thicknesses from 25 to 200 microns. For light contents 25–50 microns are sufficient, for heavy or sharp-edged goods 80–200 microns. We produce special quantities on request.

How do I calculate the bag circumference and diameter from the tubular width?

The circumference of the filled tube corresponds to twice the flat width (circumference = 2 × flat width). You obtain the maximum diameter via diameter = (2 × flat width) ÷ π. A 300 mm tubular film therefore gives around 600 mm circumference or approx. 191 mm diameter.

What core diameter does the roll have?

The standard is a core diameter of 76 mm (3 inches) – suitable for most packaging machines. For hand dispensers or special systems we supply different cores on request.

Is tubular film on a roll food-grade?

The LDPE food quality is certified for direct food contact in accordance with EU 10/2011 and EC 1935/2004 – declaration of conformity with migration data on request. Not every industrial tubular film is food-grade; look for the designated food-grade variant.

LDPE or HDPE tubular film – what is the difference?

LDPE is soft, crystal-clear and tear-resistant – the all-round choice for food and shipping. HDPE is stiffer, rustles (carrier-bag look), can be run thinner and is cheaper per metre – good for light, dry bulk goods. For weld seams and clear view, LDPE is superior.

Up to what temperature is the film resistant?

PE tubular film is cold-resistant down to about -40 °C (suitable for deep freezing) and heat-stable up to approx. 70–80 °C. For hot filling or higher temperatures, laminate or PA/PE films are the right choice.

How long does tubular film keep / how UV-resistant is it?

Stored dry and dark, PE tubular film is stable for years. With permanent UV/outdoor exposure, standard films become brittle after about 3 months – for outdoor applications we recommend UV-stabilised special goods.

Are there antistatic or printed special versions?

Yes. Antistatic tubular film (for electronics/ESD environments) and individual flexographic printing are possible as a custom production – we clarify the minimum run and delivery time individually.

Are there stock items without a minimum order quantity and graduated prices?

Yes. Common widths/thicknesses are available as stock items with no minimum order value from the roll, with transparent graduated prices directly in the order table. Shipping from our German warehouse usually in 1–3 working days.
