Recycling film packaging is an important step worldwide to reduce plastic waste and keep valuable raw materials in circulation. Everyone can contribute: carefully separate film packaging from other waste, remove food residues and dispose of it via the designated collection systems. Modern recycling plants transform clean material into new granulate, from which packaging, bags or technical films are made again. Every correctly disposed-of film means less waste in nature, less resource consumption and a cleaner future – everywhere in the world.

The LDPE tubular film 100 microns is the extra strong film tube on a roll made from polyethylene for individual bag packing. At 100 microns — i.e. double the thickness of the 50 microns variant — it is designed for heavy, sharp-edged or pointed contents that would puncture a thinner film. Crystal-clear and food-grade per EU standard.

What the 100 microns tubular film is used for

You take this thickness when the packaging is mechanically stressed. The thicker film withstands impacts, edges and weight better and does not tear as easily — ideal for robust shipping and heavy packing. Where a thin film gives way under point pressure, the 100 microns thickness offers significantly more reserve and reliably protects the contents in transit.

  • Heavy and sharp-edged contents — metal parts, workpieces, bulk goods
  • Food packing — also for larger, heavier portions
  • Stressed shipping — where thin film would puncture or tear

Material and properties

Even at 100 microns LDPE stays crystal-clear and gives full view of the contents; due to the higher thickness the film feels noticeably stiffer and more stable. It is certified for food contact per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 (declaration of conformity on request), suitable for deep-freezing down to approx. -40 °C and heat-stable up to about 70–80 °C. When sealing, a particularly durable seam is created.

50 vs. 100 microns: choosing the right thickness

The rule of thumb: 50 microns for light, uncritical goods, 100 microns for heavy, sharp-edged or pointed items. With double the thickness you have more puncture resistance and load capacity, but also need more material. If the standard thickness is enough for you, the 50 microns tubular film is more economical and material-saving; if you want recycled content, there is the rLDPE variant in 50 microns. In both cases the tube has no side seam — the circumference equals double the lay-flat width, the roll runs on a 76 mm core. You cut off the right length and seal the cut edges into a tight, durable bag.

Frequently asked questions about the LDPE tubular film 100 microns

When is the 100 microns film worthwhile compared to 50 microns?

Whenever the contents are heavy, sharp-edged or pointed and a thinner film could puncture or tear. The double thickness gives you significantly more puncture resistance and load capacity. For light standard goods, 50 microns is more economical.

Is the thick film still transparent?

Yes, even at 100 microns the LDPE stays crystal-clear and you see the contents fully. The film just feels noticeably stiffer and more stable than the 50 microns variant.

How do I seal the 100 microns tubular film?

With a film sealer — due to the higher material thickness possibly with a slightly longer sealing time than for thin film. In return a particularly durable, tear-resistant seam is created that holds even with heavy contents.

Is the film suitable for sharp-edged bulk goods?

Yes, that is exactly what the 100 microns thickness is intended for. It withstands edges and point pressure better than the thin variant. For extremely sharp parts an additional edge protection is recommended so the seam is not stressed at a single point.

Is the strong film also food-grade?

Yes. The 100 microns tubular film is certified for food contact per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and is therefore also suitable for heavier food portions. The declaration of conformity (PIM) is available on request.

How do I calculate the right tube circumference?

The circumference is double the lay-flat width; the diameter is (2 × lay-flat width) divided by Pi. This way you find out which lay-flat width fits your product diameter — regardless of the material thickness.

Is the 100 microns film suitable for deep-freezing?

Yes. Like all LDPE films it stays cold-resistant down to approx. -40 °C and is suitable for deep-freezing, heat-stable up to about 70–80 °C at the top end. It is not designed for hot filling.

How do I dispose of the strong LDPE film?

It is pure LDPE mono-material and belongs in the yellow bag. In the German PE recycling stream it is NIR-detectable and fully recoverable — the higher thickness does not change the recyclability.

Which widths and roll lengths are available?

The available lay-flat widths and roll lengths with tiered prices are shown in the order table above. The roll runs on a 76 mm core; we produce special widths on request.
