What are ziplock bags for spare parts?
Ziplock bags for spare parts are transparent packaging bags made of LDPE film, fitted with an integrated zip closure – the press-seal closure – that opens and closes with light finger pressure. Unlike heat-sealed single-use packaging, they are reusable: individual parts can be removed and the rest stored securely sealed. That is precisely why they are the standard for any application where small hardware parts have to be organised, transported and used up gradually.
The transparent film has a decisive advantage: the contents are recognisable at a glance. Anyone with 30 different types of screw or spring in an assortment case does not want to open every bag to identify the contents. Clear LDPE film makes sorting in the workshop, store or service trolley fast and error-free. For even better findability there are variants with a write-on panel for entering article numbers, quantities or safety notes.
Our ziplock bags for spare parts are available in numerous sizes: from mini-tipper bags 40×60 mm for individual screws up to A4 size for service sets. Film thicknesses from 50 microns (light) to 90 microns (extra hard-wearing) cover every application. The closure can be opened repeatedly and seals out dust and moisture – ideal for components that are corrosion-sensitive or may carry oil residues.
What are spare-parts ziplock bags used for?
- Workshop & automotive: screws, nuts, clips, seals, connectors, cable lugs
- Mechanical engineering & industry: spare parts for maintenance, wear parts, sensors, bearings
- Service sets & after-sales: complete sets as a workshop kit or repair delivery
- Electronics & hobby: capacitors, resistors, micro-screws, leftover solder
- Model-making: mini-screws, axles, springs, magnets, adhesive pads
- Home electrics & plumbing: seals, hose clamps, O-rings, plastic adapters
Which size and film thickness is right?
- Mini format (40×60, 50×80 mm): individual screws, O-rings, micro-electronics
- Small (80×120, 100×150 mm): component sets, springs, connectors, clips
- Medium (150×220 mm): repair kits, body seals, cable harnesses
- Large (200×300, 250×350 mm): complete sets, wear-part stock, service cases
- Film thickness 50 microns: standard for light parts, transparent and cost-effective
- Film thickness 70 microns: more hard-wearing for sharp-edged or heavier parts
- Film thickness 90 microns: extra strong for heavy parts, storage and shipping bags
- With write-on panel: when article numbers, quantities or notes need to be recorded
Your benefits with spare-parts ziplock bags from Elke Plastic
We have imported ziplock bags directly from the manufacturer since 1976. For workshop supplies that means proven closure quality on terms that are normally available to all customers – B2B and B2C alike. Our suppliers meet the strict requirements for consistent closing pressure – a zip closure that no longer seals properly after three closings is useless in everyday service work.
Our packaging specialists know the requirements of different industries: car workshops need oil-resistant films, electronics service teams need ESD-compliant variants, plumbing professionals need chemical-resistant bags. We help you find the right film thickness and size combination for your service range – whether for on-site service jobs or central spare-parts storage.
All ziplock bags are dispatched from our German warehouse. Stock items in standard sizes are available immediately; bespoke production with individual printing (logo, article number, safety notes) is arranged individually within the delivery window. No minimum order value. All customers – B2B and B2C alike – receive volume pricing for bulk packs. Free samples for advance checking are a matter of course.
Frequently asked questions about ziplock bags for spare parts
How often can I open and close a zip closure?
On average, a high-quality zip closure easily withstands 100–300 closing cycles. For workshop use, where a bag is sometimes opened several times a week, that is more than sufficient. For extreme use (e.g. daily service work) we recommend extra strong variants with a reinforced closure profile.
Are the bags oil- and grease-resistant?
LDPE is resistant to most lubricating oils and greases. For aggressive solvents (acetone, brake cleaner) you should use PP or OPP variants. We are happy to advise on the right material for specific workshop requirements.
Can I write on the bags?
Yes. The LDPE film can be written on easily with a permanent marker. For frequent labelling we recommend variants with a printed write-on panel, which prepares the surface for notes and provides a frame for structured entries.
Are the bags dust- and moisture-proof?
Yes, the zip closure seals out dust and protects against splash water. With full water contact or high humidity, however, moisture can slowly diffuse through – for long-term preservation of corrosion-sensitive parts we also recommend silica gel sachets.
Are there ESD-compliant variants for electronics?
Yes, we stock conductive and dissipative ziplock bags made specifically for electronic components. These form their own category – get in touch and we will be glad to point you in the right direction.
What size do I need for typical screw sets?
For M3–M8 screws, 80×120 mm is usually enough; for mixed sets, 100×150 mm; for complete sets (screws + nuts + washers), 120×180 mm. Rule of thumb: choose one size larger – empty space makes for a clean seal.
Can the bags be stacked in a service trolley?
Yes, they are flat and stack easily. For maximum efficiency we recommend combined assortment cases or modular boxes – the ziplock bags fit common standard workshop sorting boxes.
Are small print runs with a logo possible?
Yes, printing is worthwhile from larger quantities. For smaller runs we recommend standard bags with workshop labels as a flexible interim solution.
Do the bags also withstand shipping?
Film thicknesses from 70 microns are suitable for shipping. For consignments with sharp-edged parts we recommend 90 microns or combining them with additional shipping packaging. For valuable components the extra padding is sensible in any case.
What do ziplock bags typically cost?
Prices vary depending on size and film thickness. Standard quantities cost single-digit cents per unit, with bulk packs at volume pricing well below that. For high-volume applications it pays to buy by the carton – we are happy to advise on logistics concepts.
Which bags for food-related applications?
If the ziplock bags are later to enclose food, they must comply with EU 10/2011 – not all standard spare-parts bags are food-grade. We have a dedicated category for food-grade ziplock bags; please order from there rather than from the spare-parts category.
