The LDPE ziplock bags without write-on panels 90 microns are the reinforced variant: crystal-clear LDPE with a double-lip press-to-close zip and a strong 90-micron wall thickness. You choose this thickness when the contents are heavier, more angular or more mechanically demanding than a standard film can handle.
What the 90-micron thickness is suited for
90 microns brings noticeably more puncture and tear resistance. The bag withstands more robust contents and warps less during stacking or transport. The thickness has proven itself with:
- heavier small and spare parts, metal components with burrs
- angular or pointed parts that would puncture thinner film
- food packing in which frequent handling stresses the bag
Material and properties
Even at 90 microns, LDPE stays soft, crystal-clear and tear-resistant — you see the contents completely. The material is suitable for freezing down to around -40 °C and heat-stable up to around 70–80 °C. Food contact is assured per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011, the declaration of conformity is available on request. As a PE mono-material, the bag is recyclable and PPWR-compliant from 2030.
When 90 microns instead of 50 microns?
The slim 50-micron film suffices for light, smooth contents and is cheaper per piece. Reach for 90 microns as soon as the contents are sharp-edged or heavy, the bag is often opened and moved, or a higher-quality feel is desired. The double-lip zip closes equally securely at both thicknesses; you notice the difference in the stability and puncture safety of the wall.
Robustness and reuse in practice
In the rough everyday life of workshop or warehouse, the 90-micron wall pays off twice over: it withstands repeated gripping, stacking and transporting without the film bulging or tearing, and it protects sharp-edged components more reliably from puncturing. The double-lip press-to-close zip stays functionally reliable over 30 to 50 press-to-close cycles, so the same bag can stay in circulation multiple times instead of ending up in the waste after a single use. This lowers your consumption and fits the idea of pure, circular packaging. Since it is pure LDPE mono-material, the bag is fed into the PE recycling stream via the recycling bin at end of life and fully recovered.

What does the 90-micron thickness give me specifically?
More puncture and tear resistance. The thicker wall withstands sharp-edged and heavy contents and warps less during transport than the 50-micron film.
Is 90 microns suitable for pointed or burred metal parts?
Yes, that is the classic use case. Components with edges or burrs that would slit a thin film are far better off in 90 microns. For extremely pointed parts we additionally recommend bedding them centrally.
Does the press-to-close zip close just as well at 90 microns?
Yes. The double-lip zip is identical at both thicknesses and holds 30–50 press-to-close cycles. The difference lies solely in the wall thickness of the bag, not in the closure.
Is the 90-micron film also freezer-safe?
Yes, LDPE stays flexible down to around -40 °C. The stronger wall is even somewhat more robust against the embrittlement that can occur with cold combined with impact load.
Why without write-on panels?
So the bag stays transparent all round and you can see the contents at any time. If you need a writing surface for batch or date, there is the 90-micron version with three white write-on panels.
Is the bag food-grade?
Yes, certified per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011. Declaration of conformity and migration test reports are available on request.
How is the 90-micron bag disposed of?
As pure LDPE via the recycling bin. It is NIR-detectable in the PE recycling stream and fully recoverable — the larger amount of material does not change this.
Which sizes are available in 90 microns?
The available dimensions are in the order table above. Not every size necessarily exists in both thicknesses — compare the 50- and 90-micron tables, or request a custom size.
