Sustainability — recycling patisserie packaging
Patisserie packaging is environmentally advantageous when it is paper-based or mono-PP-based — both materials are well established in the German recycling system.
Paper recycling
Kraft paper patisserie packaging is fully recyclable in the paper stream. Cardboard cake boxes and praline boxes also remain paper-recyclable, provided they do not contain extensive plastic components.
OPP films and PP recycling
Pure OPP film packaging can be recovered in the PP recycling stream. NIR-detectable in German sorting plants and RecyClass-compliant.
Metallised films and the PPWR
Under the current PPWR interpretation, vacuum-metallised films are recoverable in material recycling, provided the metal layer stays below 0.1 microns. Still permitted for a premium look.
FSC certification for premium brands
Patisserie brands often value FSC-certified paper as a mark of sustainability. On request, we supply all paper patisserie packaging FSC-certified.

For high-quality praline manufacture we recommend block bottom bags with a window (elegant box look, contents visible) or stand-up pouches with a window (can be presented upright). For praline boxes, add gift paper or carrying ribbons.
Which packaging for macarons?
Macarons are delicate – pressure and moisture jeopardise their shape and texture. Ideal: small block bottom bags with a window in matching sizes, individually wrapped in a food-grade flat bag. Add a cardboard inlay for shipping.
Which packaging for cake portions?
For take-away cake slices, food-grade flat bags (with a cardboard base) or a patisserie box with a window are ideal. For whole mini cakes, use stand-up pouches with a window.
Is patisserie packaging food-grade?
Yes – all patisserie packaging meets EU 10/2011, and often LFGB as well. We send the declaration of conformity on request. For pralines with an alcohol filling, check resistance to ethanol explicitly.
