Recycling film packaging is an important step worldwide to reduce plastic waste and keep valuable raw materials in circulation. Everyone can contribute: carefully separate film packaging from other waste, remove food residues and dispose of it via the designated collection systems. Modern recycling plants transform clean material into new granulate, from which packaging, bags or technical films are made again. Every correctly disposed-of film means less waste in nature, less resource consumption and a cleaner future – everywhere in the world.

The Block Bottom Bags with Sealed Edge 50 microns are the stronger film variant made from crystal-clear OPP with a 50 microns material thickness. The box-shaped block bottom ensures secure standing on the shelf, the all-round sealed edge closes the bags aroma-tight – ideal when you need a bit more stability than with 40 microns.

What the 50 microns variant is suitable for

The stronger film is the right choice as soon as your contents get heavier, have light edges or the packaging should look particularly high-value. The additional 10 microns give the bags more stiffness and puncture resistance without losing the crystal-clear view of the contents.

  • Coffee beans and coarser roasted goods with a little more weight
  • Spices, nuts, dried fruit and baking ingredients
  • Tea blends in premium presentation
  • High-value confectionery and manufactory products

Material and properties

OPP is a stiff, brilliant mono-material that gives the block bottom dimensional stability and shows the contents crystal-clear. The film is food-grade to EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and recyclable in the PP stream, thus geared to the PPWR requirements from 2030. You get the declaration of conformity (PIM) on request.

Weighing 50 microns against 40 microns and paper

If you choose 50 microns, you get more stability and protection than with the lighter 40 microns film – sensible with higher fill weight or demanding looks. If a lighter film for powdery contents is enough for you, you save with 40 microns. If you want a natural paper look instead of crystal-clear film, the Natron block bottom bags are the alternative.

Frequently asked questions about the block bottom bags with sealed edge 50 microns

What do the 50 microns concretely give me compared to 40 microns?

The 50 microns film is stiffer and more puncture-resistant. It gives the block bottom more stability and copes better with higher fill weight or slightly sharp-edged contents – with the same crystal-clear view.

What material is the 50 microns variant made of?

Of oriented polypropylene (OPP) with a 50 microns thickness. OPP is a crystal-clear, stiff mono-material that keeps the box-shaped bottom dimensionally stable and presents the contents brilliantly.

How do I close the bags?

Via the all-round sealed edge: fill and seal the opening with a welder or continuous sealer. This keeps the contents tight and aroma-protected.

Is 50 microns suitable for coffee beans?

Yes. The stronger film carries the higher weight of beans well and stands securely on the shelf. For freshly roasted coffee with CO₂ outgassing, an aroma protection valve can additionally be added – we arrange this individually.

Is the film approved for direct food contact?

Yes, it is food-grade to EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011. We send you the declaration of conformity (PIM) and, if needed, migration reports on request.

Do the contents stay clearly visible despite the higher thickness?

Yes. Even at 50 microns the OPP stays crystal-clear – the material thickness only increases the stability, not the haze. You need no additional window.

How do I dispose of the 50 microns bags?

As pure polypropylene they belong in the recycling bin and can be recovered in the PP recycling stream. As a mono-material they meet the requirements of PPWR recyclability from 2030.

When are the 40 microns or paper variant still better?

For purely powdery, light contents 40 microns is often enough and saves material. If you want a natural paper look instead of film, you choose the Natron block bottom bags; for very heavy bulk goods, the 4-ply.

Can I request samples of the 50 microns variant in advance?

Yes, before your first order we send you free samples of the standard sizes so you can check the stability and look in your hand. Enquire via the contact form.
