What are large ziplock bags?

Large ziplock bags are the format variant for any application where standard ziplock bags are too small. We define anything from 200×300 mm as “large”, with sizes up to 400×600 mm. They are made of clear LDPE film and have the classic zip closure for opening and closing repeatedly.

Typical applications: family-size portions of frozen food, large workshop assortments, bulky hobby materials, industrial component packaging with resealability. For all applications where a zip closure is needed and the quantity of contents is larger.

Frequently asked questions about large ziplock bags

How large do ziplock bags come?

Large formats go up to approx. 300 × 400 mm and larger – roughly DIN A5, A4 and A3 sizes. Common sizes are 200 × 300, 250 × 350 and 300 × 400 mm. Even larger special formats are made on request.

What do I use large ziplock bags for?

For textiles, clothing, documents, printed matter, larger components, sets and shipped goods that should be packaged so they are resealable and visible. Popular in e-commerce for returns-ready packaging.

What wall thickness do large bags need?

Because of the larger surface area and higher load, 60–90 microns. For heavy or sharp-edged contents choose the upper end, so the seam and zip profile do not give way under tension.

Does a large ziplock bag hold heavy contents securely enough?

With a suitable wall thickness, yes – the zip profile holds as long as it is not overstretched. For very heavy goods we also recommend a weld seam or a side gusset sack instead of a zip closure alone.

Are large ziplock bags food-grade?

The food-grade variant in accordance with EU 10/2011 is available – relevant for larger food packs. Standard industrial stock is not automatically food-grade; please ask for the certified variant.

Are there A4 ziplock bags for documents?

Yes – formats around 230 × 320 mm take DIN A4. Transparent and resealable, they are suitable for accompanying documents, paperwork and archiving. For delivery documents on the outside of the parcel, see delivery note pouches.

Are large bags also suitable as shipping packaging?

Yes, with sufficient wall thickness (80–90 microns). For pure shipping pouches with a permanent adhesive seal, shipping bags are better; the zip closure scores when the packaging needs to stay resealable (returns).

Common large formats are available from stock with no minimum order value and with volume pricing; special formats are made on request. Dispatch from our German warehouse in 1–3 working days.
