Recycling film packaging is an important step worldwide to reduce plastic waste and keep valuable raw materials in circulation. Everyone can contribute: carefully separate film packaging from other waste, remove food residues and dispose of it via the designated collection systems. Modern recycling plants transform clean material into new granulate, from which packaging, bags or technical films are made again. Every correctly disposed-of film means less waste in nature, less resource consumption and a cleaner future – everywhere in the world.

The rLDPE ziplock bag with recycled content, 50 microns, without write-on panel is a zip bag made from LDPE with a proportion of recycled polyethylene. It reduces your use of virgin material but retains the ziplock closure, tear resistance and food suitability of the classic LDPE bag at a 50 micron wall thickness.

What the recycled-content bag is made for

This variant is intended for everyone who wants to improve their packaging footprint without giving up the familiar PE function. The recycled content reduces the need for virgin plastic. Typical uses:

  • Food packing: spices, dry products, powder portions
  • Small parts and spare parts, workshop components, electronic components
  • general storage and shipping packaging with a sustainability requirement

Material, recycled content and recycling

The base remains LDPE: soft, tear-resistant and freezer-suitable down to about -40 °C. Due to the recycled content the film may appear minimally less crystal-clear than pure virgin LDPE. The bag is food-grade according to EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 (PIM on request). As a PE monomaterial it is fully recyclable in the PE stream and PPWR-compliant from 2030 — the use of recycled content additionally supports the circular economy as the PPWR will require in future.

rLDPE vs. virgin LDPE vs. PLA

You choose the rLDPE bag if you want to use recycled content and ultimately recycle in the PE stream. If you need maximum crystal clarity, take the LDPE bag made from virgin material. If, on the other hand, industrial compostability is the goal, the bio-based PLA bag is the right route. The 50 micron thickness covers light to medium contents; for heavy or sharp-edged goods rLDPE is also available in 90 microns.

The circular economy in concrete terms

The recycled content is more than a label: every bag that consists partly of recycled polyethylene reduces the need for fossil-produced virgin plastic and keeps material already in circulation within the loop. This is exactly the direction that the EU packaging regulation PPWR drives with its recycled-content quotas and recyclability requirements from 2030. Because the bag remains sorted-type PE despite the recycled content, it is recyclable again at the end of its life via the recycling bin — so the loop closes twice over. In practice this means a packaging for you that you close, fill and freeze as usual, but that brings a measurably better environmental footprint than pure virgin material. A slightly reduced crystal clarity is a small, mostly uncritical compromise for this.

Frequently asked questions about the rLDPE ziplock bags with recycled content 50 microns

What does recycled content mean for this bag?

Part of the material comes from recycled polyethylene instead of virgin material. This reduces the need for virgin plastic and supports the circular economy without fundamentally changing the PE properties.

Is the recycled-content bag still food-grade?

Yes, it is certified for food contact according to EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011. You receive the declaration of conformity (PIM) on request.

Can you tell the recycled content by looking at the bag?

It may appear minimally less crystal-clear than a bag made from pure virgin LDPE. For most packaging purposes the difference is uncritical — if you want absolute brilliance, take the virgin LDPE bag.

How do I dispose of the rLDPE bag?

Via the recycling / recycling bin. Despite the recycled content it is sorted-type PE monomaterial and therefore NIR-detectable and fully recyclable in the PE recycling stream.

Is the film freezer-suitable?

Yes. Like pure LDPE, rLDPE stays flexible down to about -40 °C and is therefore suitable for the freezer.

How does rLDPE differ from the PLA bag?

rLDPE is petroleum-based with recycled content and is recycled in the PE stream; PLA is bio-based and industrially compostable via the organic waste bin. The choice depends on your disposal and sustainability goal.

When is 50 microns enough and when is 90 microns better in rLDPE?

50 microns is sufficient for light, smooth contents. For heavy or sharp-edged parts that could puncture, take the rLDPE variant in 90 microns.

Does the ziplock closure hold on the recycled-content film?

Yes, the double-lip zip works like on the virgin-material bag and holds 30–50 press-to-close cycles.

Which sizes are available in the recycled-content variant?

You will find the dimensions in the order table above. We produce special formats on request; we are happy to send you samples before your first order.
