The black stand-up pouch is an opaque Doypack made of LDPE with a bottom gusset that conceals the contents and conveys a refined, dark brand image. It is food-grade in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011, recyclable in the PE stream, and combines a high-quality, dark shelf appearance with good protection for light-sensitive dry goods.
What the black stand-up pouch is used for
You choose black when the packaging should radiate premium quality and protect the contents from view. The opaque film also acts as good light protection for sensitive dry goods.

Material and properties
LDPE is soft, tear-resistant and cold-resistant down to about -40 °C, so suitable for freezing. The black colouring makes the pouch opaque and protects light-sensitive contents better than clear film. However, pure PE does not achieve a complete aroma barrier like aluminium.
Black, matt black or aluminium – the choice
The glossy black pouch looks classic and refined. For a modern, anti-reflective look there is the matt black variant, for maximum aroma and oxygen protection the aluminium version; if you need coffee degassing, choose black with aroma protection valve. As a monomaterial, the pouch goes into the recycling bin for plastics.
Printing and processing
On the black surface, light and metallic printing inks create a refined contrast; custom brand printing in flexo or gravure is possible. During converting, the LDPE film behaves softly and tear-resistantly, and the tear notch gives clean first opening. As a PE monomaterial, the pouch goes into the recycling bin for plastics and is NIR-detectable in the recycling stream. Is the black pouch completely opaque?
Yes, the black LDPE film is opaque – the contents are not visible from outside. This also protects light-sensitive products better than a clear film.
How does black differ from matt black?
Look and feel: the standard black variant is slightly glossy and looks classic, the matt black one is anti-reflective and emphasises a modern, refined appearance. The material base for both is LDPE.
Does the black pouch offer aroma protection?
Basic protection thanks to the opaque film, but no complete oxygen barrier. For maximum aroma protection choose the aluminium variant, for coffee with CO₂ release the version with aroma protection valve.
Can I freeze the black pouch?
Yes. LDPE stays flexible down to about -40 °C, so the variant is suitable for freezing. It is not designed for hot filling above around 80 °C.
Is it suitable for coffee?
For ground or degassed coffee, yes, thanks to light protection. For freshly roasted coffee, reach for black with aroma protection valve so that escaping CO₂ does not inflate the pouch.
Does the pouch stand upright when filled?
Yes, the built-in bottom gusset forms a base and ensures upright presentation on the shelf.
Is it resealable?
Yes, via the zip with 30–50 opening cycles without loss of function, plus tear notch for clean first opening.
How do I dispose of it?
In the recycling bin for plastics: the pouch consists of pure LDPE (monomaterial), is NIR-detectable in the PE recycling stream and fully recyclable.
Can black be printed well?
Yes, with light or metallic colours in flexo or gravure a refined contrast is created. We discuss minimum order quantity and lead time individually.
