The black stand-up pouch with aroma protection valve is an opaque Doypack made of LDPE with a bottom gusset and an integrated one-way degassing valve – the solution for freshly roasted coffee. The valve lets CO₂ escape and blocks oxygen, the pouch is light-tight and food-grade in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011.
What the valve variant is used for
You need it whenever you fill coffee directly after roasting. Fresh roasted coffee off-gasses CO₂ for days; without a valve the pouch would inflate or burst.

How the aroma protection valve works
The one-way degassing valve only opens outwards: overpressure from off-gassing CO₂ escapes, but oxygen from outside does not get into the pouch. This keeps the aroma fresh without the packaging being damaged. The black film is additionally light-tight and protects the sensitive roasted aromas.
With or without valve – the right choice
Choose the valve variant for fresh, not yet degassed coffee. For already off-gassed goods or other dry products, the black pouch without a valve is sufficient. For a maximum aroma barrier, the valve principle can be combined with an aluminium laminate. As a PE monomaterial, the pouch goes into the recycling bin for plastics.
Printing and processing
For your roaster brand, the pouch can be printed in flexo or gravure; on black, light or metallic logos look especially refined. When filling freshly roasted beans, the valve is already integrated – you do not need to retrofit anything and pressure equalisation begins immediately. As a PE monomaterial, the pouch goes into the recycling bin for plastics, with the valve remaining on the pouch. What is the aroma protection valve for?
It lets the CO₂ released by freshly roasted coffee escape while at the same time preventing oxygen ingress. Without a valve the pouch would inflate – with a valve the aroma stays fresh.
Does the coffee need to degas before filling?
No, that is the advantage: thanks to the valve you can fill freshly roasted coffee directly. The CO₂ escapes in a controlled way through the valve without oxygen getting in.
Does the valve also let oxygen in?
No, it is a one-way valve and only opens outwards. Oxygen from outside is blocked, so the roasted aroma stays protected.
Why the black version in particular?
Because black is light-tight and additionally protects roasted aromas from light. This way you combine CO₂ degassing and light protection in one pouch.
How strong is the aroma protection compared with aluminium?
The valve solves the CO₂ problem; the highest oxygen and light protection is provided by the aluminium laminate. For maximum protection the valve can be combined with aluminium.
Is the pouch resealable despite the valve?
Yes, via the zip with 30–50 opening cycles. This keeps the coffee protected after opening, while the valve continues to provide pressure equalisation.
Does the pouch stand upright when filled?
Yes, the bottom gusset forms a stable base – good for coffee presentation on the shelf.
How do I dispose of the valve pouch?
In the recycling bin for plastics: the pouch is made of PE monomaterial and is recyclable in the PE recycling stream. The small valve remains on the pouch.
Can I print the pouch with my roaster logo?
Yes, custom printing in flexo or gravure is possible; on black, light or metallic logos look especially refined. We clarify minimum order quantity and lead time individually.
