Recycling film packaging is an important step worldwide to reduce plastic waste and keep valuable raw materials in circulation. Everyone can contribute: carefully separate film packaging from other waste, remove food residues and dispose of it via the designated collection systems. Modern recycling plants transform clean material into new granulate, from which packaging, bags or technical films are made again. Every correctly disposed-of film means less waste in nature, less resource consumption and a cleaner future – everywhere in the world.

The LDPE tubular film 50 microns is an endless film tube on a roll made from polyethylene, from which you make up bags of any length yourself: cut to length, seal, done. At 50 microns thickness it is the light standard variant for the flexible packaging of food, dry products and small parts — crystal-clear and food-grade per EU standard.

What LDPE tubular film is used for

Tubular film is the solution when you do not want to be tied to standard bag sizes. You cut off exactly the length your product needs and seal one or both sides. This way you make up custom bags right in your operation and do not have to keep a dozen finished bag sizes in stock. That saves storage space and keeps you flexible when your product dimensions change.

  • Food packing — spices, dry products, powder portions
  • Shipping and bundling — small parts, sets, spare parts in a precise length
  • Ad-hoc packaging — changing product sizes without keeping sizes in stock

Material and food suitability

LDPE is soft, crystal-clear and tear-resistant and gives full view of the contents. The film is certified for food contact per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011; the declaration of conformity (PIM) is available on request. Polyethylene stays cold-resistant down to approx. -40 °C and is therefore suitable for deep-freezing, heat-stable up to about 70–80 °C — when sealing it melts cleanly into a tight seam.

How cutting to length and sealing works

The film tube has no side seam: the circumference equals double the lay-flat width, so the diameter is (2 × lay-flat width) divided by Pi. The roll runs on a 76 mm core. You pull off the required length, separate it and seal the open side(s) with a sealer into a tight bag. Because the long sides of the tube are already closed, you only have to seal the cut edges — this is quick and produces a clean, tear-resistant seam. If you need more stability for heavy or sharp-edged contents, choose the 100 microns variant; if you value recycled content, take the rLDPE tubular film.

Frequently asked questions about the LDPE tubular film 50 microns

How do I calculate the bag circumference from the lay-flat width?

The circumference equals double the lay-flat width, because the tube is wound flat. You get the diameter with (2 × lay-flat width) divided by Pi. This way you plan exactly which product diameter fits into the respective tube width.

How do I turn the tubular film into finished bags?

You cut off the required length from the roll and seal the open side with a film sealer. With a tube the long sides are already closed — so you only close the cut edges. This creates a custom bag without a fixed standard size.

Is the 50 microns film food-grade?

Yes. The LDPE tubular film is certified for food contact per EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011 and is suitable for spices, dry products and powder portions. We provide the declaration of conformity (PIM) on request.

When is 50 microns enough and when do I need 100 microns?

50 microns is the light standard thickness for uncritical, light contents. For heavy, sharp-edged or pointed products that could puncture, the 100 microns variant is the safe choice. For standard packing, 50 microns is sufficient.

What core diameter does the roll have?

The tubular film is wound on a 76 mm core (3 inch). This way it fits common unwinding devices and unwinding stands for packing at the workstation.

Is the film suitable for deep-freezing?

Yes. LDPE stays cold-resistant down to approx. -40 °C and is therefore suitable for frozen goods. At the top end the film is heat-stable up to about 70–80 °C; it is not designed for hot filling.

How do I dispose of the film after use?

The film is made of pure LDPE (mono-material) and belongs in the yellow bag. In the German PE recycling stream it is NIR-detectable and fully recoverable, designed to be PPWR-compliant.

Can the tubular film be closed without a sealer?

For a tight, permanent seam you need a film sealer. As a makeshift you can knot cut pieces or close them with clips — but for clean, tear-resistant packaging, sealing is the right way.

Where do I see widths, roll lengths and tiered prices?

All available lay-flat widths and roll lengths with the tiered prices are shown directly in the order table at the top of this page. We deliver stock goods without a minimum order value; we clarify special widths on request.
