What are delivery note pouches?

Delivery note pouches – also called document pouches or accompanying-paper pouches – are transparent, self-adhesive sleeves made from LDPE or PE film. They are stuck onto the outside of shipping parcels or pallets. Inside there is room for the delivery note, invoice, freight paper or customs documents – weatherproof and immediately visible to logistics staff and the recipient.

Standard formats follow the DIN envelope dimensions: DIN A4 (210×297 mm), DIN A5 (148×210 mm), DIN A6 (105×148 mm) and C5 (162×229 mm). The self-adhesive closure system is single-use – once closed, tamper-evident.

Material properties of delivery note pouches in detail

Delivery note pouches are self-adhesive film pouches for sticking shipping documents onto cardboard and pallets. The material determines transparency, UV resistance and adhesive strength.

LDPE 100 microns — standard transparent variant

Clear polyethylene film with a self-adhesive back. Standard for cardboard shipping. The document remains visible and protected by the film. UV resistance for outdoor shipping of several weeks.

LDPE 150 microns — reinforced version

Greater material thickness for pallet shipping and outdoor logistics. Higher UV resistance and tear strength. Weather-resistant adhesive for shipping over several months.

Adhesive specifications

Standard permanently adhesive, solvent-free, acid-free. Adhesive strength 15–30 N/25mm depending on the variant. Choice between permanent (non-removable) and removable adhesive (for reuse of the cardboard).

Format standards

Classic formats: DIN A6 (110×155 mm) for small documents, DIN A5 (165×235 mm) for standard delivery notes, DIN A4 (235×320 mm) for extensive documentation, DIN long (240×120 mm) for letter format. Special format for pallet shipping 235×175 mm.

Printed variant

On request, delivery note pouches with a “Delivery note” print in red or black on the front — fast visual identification at the shipping warehouse.

Delivery note pouches are manufactured in standard DIN formats or individual special sizes.

Format adaptations

Freely selectable formats from 80×100 mm to 350×500 mm. Adaptation to your delivery note format or special label solutions. With or without the print “Delivery note”, “Documents enclosed”, “Packing list” — also in several languages.

Printing

Printing in flexographic with up to 4 colours, often with a company logo, service notes or identification marking. A logo print in the corner is the most common special-size request.

Adhesive options

Optionally permanent adhesive (for single-use cardboard) or removable adhesive (for reuse). A UV-stable variant for outdoor shipping is available on request.

Sustainability – delivery note pouches in PE recycling

Delivery note pouches made from LDPE are mono-material recyclable, although the adhesive layer makes them challenging in the recycling process.

Mono-PE recycling and adhesive

Pure LDPE delivery note pouches are identified as polyethylene in German sorting plants and fed into the PE recycling stream. The adhesive is removed during the recycling process by washing stages — no impairment of the recyclate quality.

Recyclate film

For commercial applications without food contact we process post-consumer recyclate with a 30–50% content. Slightly cloudier in appearance, technically fully functional.

PPWR compliance

Delivery note pouches meet the EU Packaging Regulation as a mono-material recyclable packaging component. Adhesive selection in line with the RecyClass guideline on request.

Material efficiency

Choosing the optimal film thickness is the most effective lever for material reduction. For indoor shipping, 100 microns is sufficient; for outdoor, 150 microns — no blanket over-dimensioning is necessary.

What is a delivery note pouch?

Which DIN formats are available?

Standard formats: DIN A6 (105×148 mm), DIN A5 (148×210 mm – standard), DIN A4 (210×297 mm – for invoices), DIN C5, DIN C6. Special sizes on request.

Does the pouch stick to any surface?

Very reliably on smooth cardboard surfaces. On a rough or dirty surface the adhesive strength is reduced. At extreme temperatures (above 40 °C or below −20 °C), check the adhesive strength.

Weatherproof?

Yes – the transparent film withstands rain, snow and mechanical stress during transport. Accompanying papers stay dry inside.

Can it be removed without residue?

With standard adhesive, usually yes – residue-free or with minimal residue. For 100% residue-free, ask for the special removable variant.

Printable with a logo?

Yes – flexographic or gravure printing. For example with a company logo instead of the standard “Delivery note” print. → custom production.

Which variant for pallets and mesh boxes?

A larger DIN A4 format with reinforced adhesive for the pallet-film surface. For mesh boxes, ask about special adhesive strength if needed.

Are delivery note pouches reusable?

The adhesive area is not – the adhesive bonds once. The pouch itself can be reused with new adhesive tape if removed carefully, but that is not the standard use case.

Which adhesive materials are available?

Standard acrylic adhesive (permanent), hot-melt adhesive (stronger bond), removable adhesive (residue-free removal). The variant can be chosen according to requirements.

Suitable for food shipping?

The film pouch is on the outside of the parcel – it has no direct food contact. For inner packaging, it is better to choose a food-grade variant.

Recyclable?

The film is recyclable as a single material (yellow bag / yellow bin). The adhesive residue on the parcel should be removed before recycling.

What is the minimum quantity?

Standard delivery note pouches without printing: no minimum order. With custom printing, a higher minimum quantity – we calculate this individually.

How do I store delivery note pouches correctly?

Dry, dark, at room temperature. Avoid UV radiation – the adhesive strength can decrease in direct sunlight. Shelf-stable for several years in original packaging.
