Delivery, samples and custom production
Shipping from our German warehouse. Standard window stand-up pouches available from stock for hobby roasters, organic producers and small brands.
Free samples before your first order: test the window position, the aluminum barrier and the printing options with your actual product. For specialty roasteries we recommend a comparison test with/without a window over 4 weeks to verify aroma preservation.
Custom production with an individual window size, position, individual printing, bespoke dimensions or alternative closures. For premium brands, shaped windows (star, oval, brand shape) are also possible. A declaration of conformity to EU 10/2011 with every delivery.
What are stand-up pouches with a window?
Stand-up pouches with a window – also called doypacks with a window, stand-up pouches with a transparent cut-out or display pouches – combine the free-standing doypack construction with a transparent opening in the front. The contents become visible while the aroma protection is retained through the aluminum inner layer in the opaque part.
This construction is particularly decisive on the sales shelf: customers immediately see the product quality (the look of the beans with coffee, visible ingredients with muesli, the variety of colour with dried fruit). A window noticeably increases purchase intent compared with completely opaque packaging.
Unlike fully transparent bags (without aroma protection), the window bag offers the combination of visibility AND aroma protection. The transparent window is worked in from crystal-clear film, the rest of the bag has the aluminum barrier.
Material: composite film with an aluminum inner layer in the opaque part, crystal-clear film in the window area. Certified food-grade to EU 10/2011. Optionally with a zip, aroma valve or kraft-paper outside.
What are stand-up pouches with a window used for?
Stand-up pouches with a window are the premium choice wherever the look of the contents is itself the selling point.
- Coffee roasteries with visually attractive beans – single origin, fermented roasts, light vs. dark roast levels visible
- Muesli and granola brands with visible ingredients (dried fruit, nuts, chocolate pieces) as a differentiator
- Praline makers and patisseries – the praline variety recognisable through the window (see also the patisserie packaging range)
- Dried-fruit and nut direct marketers – colour variety and quality visible (cashew look, sultana shine)
- Sweet assortments and confectionery blends with a colourful look for high-selling POS presentation
- Tea blends with visible flowers, fruit and herb components
Anyone who wants to advertise with the look of the contents while also needing aroma protection chooses the window variant.
Which stand-up pouches with a window suit you?
The right variant depends on the look of the contents, brand positioning and window format.
- Window size: 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 of the front – the larger it is, the more visible, but also the less aluminum barrier area
- Window position: centred, at the top or a strip – depending on brand layout and content presentation
- With zip closure – essential for end-customer storage with repeated removal
- With aroma valve – for coffee with a window and valve (the premium roastery standard)
- Outer material: crystal-clear film (modern) or kraft paper (an organic look with a window, sells very well)
- Size classes: 100–1000 g depending on the sales format
Particularly popular for premium coffee roasteries: kraft paper outside + a large window + aroma valve + zip – the optimal combination for specialty brands.
Advantages of stand-up pouches with a window
High-selling at the POS: a window noticeably increases purchase intent on the shelf. With comparable products, the customer reaches for the packaging with visible contents – “seeing instead of guessing” is a strong sales signal.
Aroma protection retained: the window is worked in from crystal-clear film, the rest of the bag keeps the aluminum barrier. Aroma protection in the opaque part remains almost complete. No trade-off between visibility and protection – you get both.
Brand-story visualisation: content presentation works as a trust signal. With organic brands, the customer immediately recognises the quality (light, even beans, intact dried fruit). With single-origin ranges, you see the roast-level characteristic. A window is a brand statement and proof of trust in one.
Frequently asked questions about stand-up pouches with a window
How big is the window?
Standard windows are approx. 1/3 of the front area. For particularly high-selling presentation, larger windows up to half the front are also possible. Special sizes and individual window shapes (star, oval, brand shape) as custom production.
Is the aroma protection retained?
Yes – the aluminum inner layer is worked in only in the opaque part of the bag. The window is made of crystal-clear film, where the aroma protection is reduced. With a typical 1/3 window, 2/3 of the aroma barrier is retained – sufficient for most applications.
Suitable for coffee?
Yes – especially for specialty coffee, where the look of the beans serves as a quality signal. Combinable with an aroma valve and zip. For maximum aroma protection with sensitive specialty coffee SCA 88+, the fully opaque aluminum variant may be better. A comparison test is recommended.
Combinable with a zip?
Yes – the standard combination is window + zip for end-customer packaging. Essential for repeated opening with aroma preservation in the private kitchen cupboard.
Possible with an aroma valve?
Yes – window + aroma valve + zip is the premium variant for specialty coffee roasteries. The valve in the opaque part, the window centred. Premium at the POS and functionally optimal.
Certified food-grade?
Yes – to EU 10/2011. The window material is certified just like the aluminum composite film. Declaration of conformity on request.
For organic brands with kraft paper?
Yes – a very high-selling combination. Kraft paper outside with a central window allows an organic look plus content presentation. The aluminum barrier in the opaque kraft-paper part is retained. The premium choice for organic roasteries and artisan brands.
Which contents benefit particularly from a window?
Contents with a visual quality signal: coffee beans (an even look = a good roast), muesli with colourful ingredients, dried fruit (shine and colour), praline assortments (variety visible), sweet blends, tea blends with flowers and fruit. For monochrome powders (spirulina, matcha), a window is less relevant.
Which sizes are available?
Standard sizes as with normal stand-up pouches: 100 g, 250 g, 500 g, 1 kg. The window adapts proportionally. For special sizes or particular window shapes, request custom production.
Is printing on the window possible?
Printing is not normally done directly on the transparent window (it would reduce visibility). Printing is done on the opaque outside around it – logo, variety name, FIC mandatory information. For creative designs with printing at the edge of the window, talk to us about custom production.
Does a window work online too, or only in bricks-and-mortar retail?
Online, the window is not directly effective (the customer only sees the product photo), but on delivery and subsequent reuse the visibility builds trust. In bricks-and-mortar retail and the farm shop, a window sells maximally well.
