Extra Strong Tubular Film – 90 to 200 microns for Heavy Goods and Industry

Tubular film with extra thick film thicknesses of 90–200 microns – for heavy profiles, sharp-edged components and heavy industrial packaging. Tear-resistant, vacuum-capable, cold-resistant.

Further variants in this packaging family: tubular film, transparent tubular film as well as food-grade tubular film – each with its own specialisation in material, format or application.

Related ranges for other application areas: side gusset sacks, flat bags for packaging as well as large flat bags.

Since 1976 we have been importing directly from the manufacturer – graduated prices for any quantity, free samples and advice for B2B and B2C alike.

What is extra strong tubular film?

Extra strong tubular film is the robust variant for industrial applications with heavy or sharp-edged contents. Instead of the standard film thickness of 25–50 microns, 90–200 microns are used. This increased material thickness makes the film significantly more tear-resistant, puncture-resistant and vacuum-capable – crucial for applications such as heavy component packaging, long steel profiles, machine components or precision parts with sharp corners.

The typical area of use: industrial component packaging, steel pipe protection, high-speed packaging lines with high loads, heavy-goods shipping. For workshops and mechanical engineering, the robust variant is often the only viable route.

Our range of extra strong tubular film covers the typical industrial applications: film thicknesses of 90, 120, 150 and 200 microns, tubular widths from 200 to 800 mm. LDPE or PA/PE laminate available. PA/PE laminate for vacuum applications. 200 microns LDPE for sharp-edged components.

What is extra strong tubular film suitable for?

  • Steel pipe protection: long steel pipes, corrugated pipes, iron profiles
  • Heavy industrial components: machine components, precision parts
  • Vacuum packaging: PA/PE laminate for sous-vide or industrial vacuum
  • Building materials: heavy building materials, wooden battens, metal profiles
  • High-speed machines: automatic packaging lines with high stress levels
  • Shipping of valuable goods: sensitive or precious contents with a reusable requirement

Which extra strong variant is the right one?

  • Film thickness 90 microns: standard extra strong, cost-efficient
  • Film thickness 120–150 microns: premium robustness
  • Film thickness 200 microns: maximum for extreme loads
  • LDPE: standard, general industrial
  • PA/PE laminate: vacuum-capable, extremely tear-resistant
  • Tubular width 200–400 mm: narrow profiles
  • Tubular width 400–600 mm: standard industry
  • Tubular width 600–800 mm: heavy and large-scale industry

Your advantages with extra strong tubular film from Elke Plastic

We have been importing industrial films directly from the manufacturer since 1976. For extra strong tubular film the material quality is a direct cost factor: a film that fails in the industrial application leads to production stoppages or complaints with high consequential costs. Our suppliers meet the requirements for consistently high tear resistance even under extreme loads.

Our packaging specialists advise on the right film thickness and material choice: for standard heavy goods, 90-micron LDPE is optimal. PA/PE laminate for vacuum applications. 150–200 microns LDPE for sharp-edged machine parts.

Shipping is from our German warehouse. Extra strong tubular film is generally available immediately from the roll. All customers – B2B and B2C alike – receive graduated prices; larger quantities with additional volume discounts from the pallet.

Frequently asked questions about extra strong tubular film

From what thickness does tubular film count as "extra strong"?

Film thicknesses from about 90 microns up to 200 microns count as extra strong – roughly twice as thick as standard tubular film (25–50 microns). These thicknesses are puncture- and tear-resistant enough for sharp-edged profiles, heavy components and industrial bulk goods.

Which thickness do I need for sharp-edged or heavy contents?

Rule of thumb: up to 5 kg and smooth contents 90–100 microns; for sharp-edged metal profiles, cast or structural parts 120–200 microns. The more angular and heavier the content, the higher the required micron figure to avoid punctures.

How tear-resistant is extra strong tubular film?

The high material thickness significantly increases puncture, tear-propagation and weld-seam strength. For heavy-duty or bag-in-box applications it can also be stacked multiple times as a liner without the seam opening.

Is the film vacuum- and deep-freeze-capable?

Extra strong PE tubular film is cold-resistant down to -40 °C and is therefore suitable for deep freezing. For a genuine vacuum with an oxygen barrier, choose PA/PE sealed edge bags; pure PE film does not hold a high vacuum but is suitable for protective vacuum.

For which widths is the extra strong variant available?

Tubular widths from approx. 100 to 1200 mm in 90–200 microns. You calculate the matching circumference via circumference = 2 × flat width; we produce special quantities on request.

Is extra strong tubular film food-grade?

The food-grade variant is certified in accordance with EU 10/2011 – relevant for heavy food containers and industrial food. Declaration of conformity on request. Pure industrial/construction protection film is not automatically food-grade.

What is extra strong tubular film typically used for?

For metal profiles and pipes, heavy machine components, granulate and fertiliser containers, box liners for bulk goods and construction protection on the building site. Wherever standard film would be punctured or torn.

Are there antistatic or VCI corrosion-protection versions?

Yes, as a custom production: antistatic film for electronics as well as VCI tubular film with a corrosion-protection active agent for bare metal parts (protection without oil/grease). Both on request with a minimum run.

What does extra strong tubular film cost?

The price depends on width, thickness and quantity – due to the higher micron figure it is above standard goods. You can see transparent graduated prices directly in the order table; for pallet quantities we prepare individual quotes.

How fast is delivery?

Common thicknesses are stock items and ready to ship in 1–3 working days from our German warehouse. Special quantities and VCI/antistatic versions by arrangement.
