Recycling film packaging is an important step worldwide to reduce plastic waste and keep valuable raw materials in circulation. Everyone can contribute: carefully separate film packaging from other waste, remove food residues and dispose of it via the designated collection systems. Modern recycling plants transform clean material into new granulate, from which packaging, bags or technical films are made again. Every correctly disposed-of film means less waste in nature, less resource consumption and a cleaner future – everywhere in the world.

The Black Coffee Bags are light-proof, aroma-protecting stand-up pouches made of aluminum composite with an integrated one-way aroma valve — the elegant, matte-black choice for specialty coffee and premium single-origin roasts. The aluminum build completely blocks out light and oxygen, while the valve lets the CO₂ of freshly roasted beans escape.

Why black for specialty coffee

Black looks premium, understated and high-end on the shelf without being obtrusive — exactly the signal specialty roasters and direct-trade brands want to send. On a matte black bag, light labels, gold-foil embossing or coloured varietal banderoles stand out with particularly high contrast. At the same time, the stand-up base makes the pouch presentation-ready and tip-proof on the sales shelf.

Aluminum barrier and aroma valve

The composite build with aluminum forms the maximum barrier against light, oxygen and moisture — the three main enemies of fresh roast aromas. Freshly roasted coffee off-gasses CO₂ for days; without pressure equalisation the bag would balloon. The one-way degassing valve solves this: it lets the gas escape to the outside but blocks oxygen from getting in.

  • Light-proof thanks to aluminum composite — protects sensitive roast aromas
  • One-way aroma valve for freshly roasted, still-degassing coffee
  • Food-grade in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011

When to choose black instead of gold, silver or white

The technical barrier is identical across all aluminum colours — you choose based on brand impact. Pick black when your brand presents itself as elegant, dark and understated and you work with light printing on the surface. If the bag should look premium and glossy, gold is the alternative; for a light branding surface rather white, and for a neutral cross-varietal look silver. If recyclability matters above all, the LDPE version with K-sealing is the better route, because as a mono-material it goes into the PE stream — though without a valve and without a complete light barrier. Frequently asked questions about the Black Coffee Bags

What is the aroma valve in the black coffee bag for?

The integrated one-way valve lets out the CO₂ that freshly roasted coffee off-gasses over several days, while at the same time blocking oxygen from the outside. Without a valve the airtight bag would balloon or even burst — with the valve you can pack directly after roasting and the aroma stays sealed in.

Why black in particular for my coffee brand?

Black signals quality and restraint on the shelf and is therefore the typical choice for specialty coffee and single-origin roasts. On the matte black surface, light labels, gold embossing or coloured varietal banderoles stand out with high contrast.

Is the black bag really light-proof?

Yes. Thanks to the aluminum composite the bag is completely opaque to light. Alongside oxygen and moisture, light is one of the main causes of aroma loss, which is why the seamless light barrier is a real advantage for roasted coffee with a longer shelf life.

Does the barrier differ from gold, silver or white?

No, the aroma and light barrier is the same across all aluminum colour variants, because the composite build is identical. You decide purely based on brand impact: black for elegant and understated, gold for premium and glossy, silver for classic, white for a light printing surface.

Can I fill in freshly roasted coffee right away?

Yes, that is exactly what the valve is made for. Freshly roasted coffee keeps off-gassing CO₂ for days; the one-way valve releases this gas in a controlled way to the outside without letting oxygen in. So you don't have to wait through a separate degassing period.

Is the black coffee bag approved for food contact?

Yes, the inner sealing layer is certified for direct food contact in accordance with EC 1935/2004 and EU 10/2011. We send you the declaration of conformity (PIM) and, on request, migration reports.

Can the black bag be finished with my logo?

Yes, individual printing in flexographic or gravure printing is possible. On black, light prints and metallic tones look particularly elegant. We discuss minimum order quantity and lead time individually on request.

How do I dispose of the aluminum composite bag?

The bag is an aluminum-plastic composite and, in Germany, belongs in the yellow bag. As a multi-layer material it is not as easily recyclable as mono-material PE — if maximum recyclability is a priority, the LDPE version with K-sealing is the alternative.

What sizes are available and do I get samples?

You can see the available sizes with tiered prices directly in the order table above. Before your first order we are happy to send you free samples so you can check the matte black look, the valve and the stand-up base in your hand.
