What are adhesion seal bags?
Adhesion seal bags – also known as self-seal bags or self-adhesive bags – are transparent film bags with a self-adhesive closure flap. To fill them you peel off the protective strip, fold over the flap and press it firmly – the tight closure is done.
The material is usually PP (polypropylene) or OPP for an especially crystal-clear look. Transparent variants are standard – ideal for products that should remain visible through the packaging.
What are adhesion seal bags suitable for?
- Clothing: T-shirts, lingerie, fashion shipping
- Print products: greeting cards, printed matter, promotional flyers
- Sample distribution: cosmetic samples, product samples
- E-commerce: small shipping products that need to stay visible
- Logistics: sorting with self-adhesive bags
- Fashion boutiques: lingerie presentation at the POS
Which adhesion seal bags are available?
- Adhesion seal bags for clothing – for apparel & fashion shipping
- Adhesion seal bags with air hole – with a vent opening for compact packing
Benefits of adhesion seal bags

Material properties of adhesion seal bags in detail
Adhesion seal bags are made from crystal-clear OPP material (oriented polypropylene). The self-adhesive closure flap is the key difference from standard flat bags and determines processing speed, reclosability and presentation appearance.
OPP 30 microns — standard transparent grade
Crystal-clear film with high stiffness and a crinkle finish. Brilliant product visibility, ideal for clothing, textiles, magazines, cards or printed matter at the point of sale. The OPP film is corona-treated on both sides and therefore printable.
Self-adhesive closure flap
On the back of the bag there is a permanently adhesive flap with a silicone protective strip. The adhesive is solvent-free, acid-free and ageing-resistant. After peeling off the protective strip, the bag can be closed manually or by machine without a heat-sealing device — crucial for shipping fulfilment without additional investment.
Euro hole and hanging
An optional Euro hole in the flap area allows presentation on slatwalls in retail. We supply with or without the hole — both variants from stock.
Suitability for food contact
OPP films are certified for direct food contact under EU Regulation 10/2011. We provide the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) on request. Suitable for dry foods such as chocolates, confectionery or baked goods — not for greasy or moist products without further protective packaging.
All adhesion seal bags are produced in Germany and comply with the applicable EU migration limits for packaging.
Custom options — printing and special sizes
Beyond the from-stock range, we manufacture adhesion seal bags in custom special sizes and with your brand printing.
Printing processes and colour range
Printing in the flexo printing process with up to 6 colours, including Pantone spot colours and a white underprint for text on transparent film. Full-surface printing across the entire outside is possible; cut-outs in the closure area are taken into account technically.
Special sizes and special shapes
Format adjustments are freely selectable in width (60–500 mm) and height (90–700 mm). Variable flap height (30–60 mm) for especially secure closures. On request with a Euro hole, tear notch or special adhesive for higher hold requirements.
We clarify minimum order quantity and lead time individually after your enquiry. Contact us for a specific quote for your packaging project.
Sustainability and the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR)
From 2030, the EU Packaging Regulation (PPWR) fundamentally changes the requirements for plastic packaging: all packaging must be recyclable. As mono-material packaging made of PP, OPP adhesion seal bags are already PPWR-compliant today.
Mono-material recycling in the PP stream
Pure OPP film is classified as polypropylene by near-infrared detection (NIR) in German sorting plants and fed into the PP recycling stream. The adhesion closure flap is made of the same material and does not interfere with recycling. Dispose of it via the recyclables collection.
Recyclable printing inks
On request we use printing inks compliant with the RecyClass design guidelines that do not impair the recycling process. Standard printing with nitrocellulose-based inks is also possible, but should be avoided by sustainability-focused brands.
Reduced material use
The low OPP film thickness (30 microns) significantly reduces the material use per packaging unit compared with comparable PE bags and supports your material-efficiency balance in the sustainability report.
Frequently asked questions about adhesion seal bags
What is an adhesion seal bag?
A bag made of PP/OPP film with a self-adhesive closure strip. Once peeled and pressed together it is permanently sealed. Synonyms: self-seal bag, polybag with self-adhesive closure.
OPP or PP – what is the difference?
OPP (oriented polypropylene) is clearer, stiffer and crinkles more. PP (polypropylene) is softer and less clear. Choose OPP for a premium look, PP for standard use.
Tamper-evident?
Yes – once sealed, any opening is visible. Re-adhesion after opening is not possible. Important for e-commerce returns and premium shipping.
Does the closure hold reliably?
Yes – high-quality acrylate adhesives hold permanently, even with temperature fluctuations and moisture. Check adhesion at extreme temperatures (above 40 °C).
Suitable for fashion shipping?
Very much so → adhesion seal bags for clothing. T-shirts, jumpers, fashion shipping with a display-window effect.
Which variant has an air hole?
Adhesion seal bags with air hole have a vent opening – perfect for compressing textiles (jumpers, quilted jackets) for space-saving packing.
Which sizes are common?
Small (140×180 mm for samples), standard for T-shirts (200×280 mm), jumpers (250×350 mm), jackets (350×500 mm). Special sizes on request.
Food-grade?
Not as standard. For food contact, choose food-grade flat bags or food-grade ziplock bags instead.
Printable with a logo?
Yes – flexo printing, gravure or screen printing. Especially high-contrast on OPP because it is crystal-clear. → Custom-made.
Which wall thickness?
Standard 30–50 microns. For robust shipping 50–70 microns. For a premium look, heavier 60–80 microns.
Recyclable?
OPP/PP is recyclable as a single material (recycling code 05). Dispose of it in the recyclables collection.
Residue-free removal?
The adhesive strip sticks to the bag itself (not to the shipping carton). After opening, no adhesive remains on the carton. The bag itself can be recycled together with the adhesive residue.
UV-resistant?
OPP is more UV-stable than LDPE, but also becomes brittle over months. For longer outdoor applications, ask for a special UV-stabilised variant.
Does it stick to the carton shipping label?
Adhesion bags have the adhesive on the bag itself, not for sticking onto a carton. For pouches that stick onto a carton, see delivery note pouches.
