What are ziplock bags for small parts?
Ziplock bags for small parts are particularly small to medium-sized packaging bags made of transparent LDPE film with an integrated zip closure – the classic press-seal closure that opens and closes with finger pressure. The application is the focus: you sort, organise and transport small hardware, craft or hobby parts that would otherwise get lost loose in the assortment box.
In the hobby sector, the craft room or the home workshop, the right mini packaging is worth its weight in gold. Beads, sequins, sewing accessories, button assortments, model-making parts, hobby cables, small electronic components or collectibles such as coins and stamps need clearly separable, writable and transparent containers. The transparent film shows immediately what is inside, while the press-seal closure reliably retains the contents – even if the bag is stored upside down or moved roughly during transport.
Our range of mini ziplock bags for small parts runs from 40×60 mm (smallest standard size, ideal for individual parts) through 60×80, 80×120, 100×150 to 120×180 mm. Film thicknesses are available in 50, 60 and 70 microns. The bags are food-grade to EU 10/2011, so they can also be used for small food portions or spice assortments. For even more organisation, choose variants with a write-on panel for article numbers, contents or collector notes.

Your advantages with mini bags from Elke Plastic
Since 1976 we have imported ziplock bags directly from the manufacturer. For hobby, craft and collector applications this means reliable closure quality in mini formats that many competitors do not offer in standard stock quantities. We carry all common standard sizes from stock, so even hobby artists or collectors can order without a large production run.
Our packaging specialists advise you on the right film thickness for your application: for jewellery making, thinner films are often sufficient and more economical; for collections of fine coins or special model-making parts, 70 micron bags are the more robust choice. We also help you put labelling systems (numbered assortments, alphabetical sorting, colour coding) into practice.
Dispatch is from our German warehouse with short delivery times. No minimum order value. Hobby shops and all customers – B2B and B2C alike – receive tiered pricing. Free samples via our enquiry form – so you can test film quality and closure function in advance before confirming the right assortment.
Frequently asked questions about mini ziplock bags
How small are the smallest ziplock bags?
Our smallest standard size is 40×60 mm – roughly the size of a matchbox. This lets you package individual screws, small beads, coins or SMD components one at a time. For even smaller applications, special formats are available on request.
Are mini bags suitable for food?
Yes, all ziplock bags in our range are food-grade to EU 10/2011. You can use mini bags for herb portions, tea samples, spice blends or baking sprinkles – even in permanent contact with food.
Can the mini bags be written on?
With permanent markers, easily. For frequent labelling we recommend variants with a printed write-on panel – this provides a frame for article numbers, contents or dates and is clearly legible against the LDPE film.
How effective is the protection against moisture?
The press-seal closure seals against dust and reliably protects against splashing water. During prolonged storage in damp environments, moisture can slowly diffuse through – for sensitive collectibles (e.g. steel beads, iron collectibles) silica gel should also be added.
Are the mini bags safe for collectibles (coins, stamps)?
Yes. For numismatics and philately we recommend the slightly thicker 60–70 micron variants. PVC films or those containing plasticisers are problematic for long-term collectible storage – our LDPE bags are plasticiser-free and therefore stable over the long term.
How many bags typically fit in an assortment box?
A standard assortment box (e.g. Sortimo, BERA) holds 20–60 mini bags depending on drawer depth. We recommend choosing uniform sizes, so the bags can be organised like index cards.
Are the bags reusable?
Yes, the press-seal closure withstands 100–300 opening/closing cycles with ease. For frequent reuse in everyday hobby work they can therefore be used for years.
Can the bags be hung on a pegboard or nails?
Variants with a Euro hole are specially designed for this. The reinforced punch hole at the top holds even multiple weights stably. For assortment-box applications a Euro hole is usually not necessary.
How do mini bags for spare parts and for small parts differ?
The film is identical – the categorisation follows the application. Spare-part bags address workshop and service applications with labelling requirements. Small-part bags address hobby, craft and collector applications. We carry both in our range – with overlapping sizes.
Can I have mini bags printed with my own logo?
Yes, custom printing is available. For mini formats we recommend compact logos or single-colour designs – detailed multicolour prints tend to look rather small on 40×60 mm bags. For hobby brands and craft sets, printing is a good way to build a brand.
Which film thickness is ideal for jewellery making?
50 microns is enough for most jewellery applications. For delicate gemstones or pointed bead pendants we recommend 60–70 microns – the greater weight also gives the bags a higher-quality feel.
