What are ziplock bags?
Ziplock bags are flexible packaging bags with an integrated zip closure made of two profiles that interlock tightly when pressed together. The closure opens and recloses as often as needed – no tools, no adhesive, no wear.
The standard material is LDPE (low-density polyethylene) – flexible, tear-resistant and recyclable. Food-grade versions are additionally certified to EU 10/2011.
Ziplock bags are also known as resealable bags, press seal bags or grip seal bags – all referring to the same product with similar properties.
What are ziplock bags suitable for?
- Small parts: screws, nuts, fuses, jewellery, sorted goods
- Food: spices, dried fruit, tea (food-grade variant)
- Travel: cosmetics, tablets, liquids for hand luggage
- Industry: spare-part shipping, sample bags, material storage
- Workshop: sorting repair parts, drill bits, hex nuts
- E-commerce: shipping small parts, sample bags to enclose
- Pharmacies & medical: tablets, pills, sterile packaging
- Private use: jewellery storage, travel toiletries, craft materials
Which ziplock bag variants are available?
- Transparent ziplock bags – crystal clear, ideal for visible products
- Ziplock bags with write-on panel – with white strips for labelling
- Food-grade ziplock bags – certified to EU 10/2011
- Extra-strong ziplock bags – for sharp-edged or heavy contents
- Ziplock bags for small parts – specially for screws, nuts and fuses
- Ziplock bags for spare parts – for repair and service
- Sustainable ziplock bags – made from recycled LDPE (GRS)
Advantages of ziplock bags
- Resealable: open and close as often as you like with no loss of function.
- Certified food-grade to EU 10/2011 with a declaration of conformity.
- Transparent for visibility, or with a write-on panel for identification.
- Tear-resistant: reliably sturdy even in thinner wall thicknesses.
- Printable with your logo, branding or mandatory labelling.
- Private & commercial: all customers — B2B and B2C alike — receive volume pricing directly in the order table.

Material properties of ziplock bags in detail
Ziplock bags (colloquially also press seal bags or Minigrip) are made from LDPE film with an integrated ziplock closure. The material thickness determines tear resistance, light protection and the stability of the resealable closure.
LDPE 50 microns — standard transparent variant
Crystal-clear polyethylene film for light contents: small parts, spare parts, jewellery, screws, samples. Stable up to approx. 200 g fill weight. Tear-resistant, flexible, cost-effective. Ziplock closure with a double lip for a secure seal across repeated openings.
LDPE 90 microns — extra-strong for commercial use
Reinforced film thickness for heavy or sharp-edged contents: metal parts, tool spare parts, industrial products. Higher puncture resistance and longer service life with repeated reuse. Suitable for warehouse packing and shipping.
LDPE with write-on panel
Variant with a matt strip at the top right on the front of the bag — can be written on with a ballpoint pen, pencil or marker. Practical for workshops, laboratories, pharmacies and shipping with individual content labelling without a separate label.
LDPE with Euro hole
Reinforced punched hole at the head of the bag for display on slat walls in retail. Compliant with the standard 4 mm Euro hole norm.
Food-grade variant
LDPE film certified for direct food contact in accordance with EU Regulation 10/2011. Declaration of conformity available on request. Suitable for dry foods, spice samples and herb blends.
Ziplock mechanism: double-lip system for a secure seal, opened manually with thumb pressure or by machine.
Custom options — bespoke sizes and printing
Ziplock bags can be produced with brand printing and in bespoke sizes.
Printing process
Printing using the flexographic process with up to 4 colours, including simple Pantone colours. The printable area is below the ziplock closure; the closure zone remains unprinted.
Bespoke sizes
Freely selectable bag formats in width (40–300 mm) and height (50–400 mm). Material thickness optionally 50, 60, 70, 90 or 100 microns. Optionally with a Euro hole, hanging tab or write-on panel.

Sustainability and recyclability
Ziplock bags made from pure LDPE are mono-material and therefore recyclable. The ziplock closure is made from the same polyethylene as the film and does not interfere with recycling.
Mono-material recycling
In the German sorting system, pure LDPE bags are identified via NIR detection and fed into the PE recycling stream. Dispose of them via the yellow recycling bag. Ideally remove food or dirt residues before disposal.
Reusability
The ziplock closure allows repeated opening and closing without loss of function. In the home and workshop, one ziplock bag often replaces 5–10 single-use film bags — material efficiency through reuse.
PPWR compliance from 2030
LDPE bags already meet the EU Packaging Regulation today, as they are fully recyclable as a mono-material. For sustainability-focused brands we additionally recommend the use of recyclable printing inks in line with the RecyClass design guideline.
Recycled-content variant (in preparation)
On request we can assess processing with post-consumer recyclate (PCR content up to 30%), depending on the required food contact. For commercial applications without food contact, a higher PCR content is possible.
Frequently asked questions about ziplock bags
What is a ziplock bag?
A bag with an integrated zip-profile closure that seals tightly when pressed together and can be opened as often as you like. Synonyms: resealable bags, press seal bags, ziplock pouches, Minigrip bags.
Press seal or slider closure – which is better?
Press seal: cheaper, tighter, the standard. Slider closure: more convenient, faster to open and close. Detailed comparison in the ziplock bag guide.
Are ziplock bags food-grade?
Only the explicitly certified variants meet EU 10/2011 → food-grade variant. Declaration of conformity available on request.
How often can I open a ziplock closure?
High-quality ziplock closures withstand 500+ opening cycles. The tightness gradually decreases but remains usable for a long time.
Which wall thickness for screws / sharp-edged contents?
At least 90–120 microns. For particularly sharp-edged contents (sheet metal, split pins), choose extra-strong bags from 150 microns.
Which sizes are available?
From mini (40×60 mm) to large format (400×600 mm). Detailed overview in small ziplock bags and large ziplock bags.
Write-on panel for labelling?
Yes – with one to three white strips to write on. → with write-on panel. Ideal for workshop sorting and practice documentation.
With a hanging hole for the sales display?
Yes – ziplock bags with a Euro hole have a punched hanging opening. The standard Euro hole fits all common hook rails.
Can they be vacuum-sealed?
No – a standard ziplock closure does not hold a vacuum. For vacuum applications, choose sealed edge bags with an embossed vacuum structure.
Suitable for TSA travel (liquids in hand luggage)?
Plain ziplock bags are not automatically TSA-compliant. For travel liquids in hand luggage, choose transparent 20×20 cm bags with a zip in line with IATA requirements.
Printable with a logo?
Yes – flexographic or gravure printing as part of a custom-made order. Minimum quantity on request.
Are bespoke sizes possible?
Yes – in almost any size and thickness you require. For individual requirements → request a custom-made order.
Sustainable ziplock bags?
Yes – made from 100% recycled LDPE with a GRS certificate → with recycled content or sustainable variant.
Can I also order as a private individual?
Yes, gladly. We also supply standard quantities to private customers – with no minimum order in the standard range.
